First charges in the investigation complex "Gorch Fock"

After almost three years of investigations into the business of the former "Gorch Fock" renovator Elsflether Werft, charges have been brought against the former shipyard management and other parties involved.
A civilian employee of the navy was accused of taking advantage, said the Osnabrück public prosecutor and the Oldenburg police department on Monday.
There are six defendants in this bribery case.
Osnabrück - In addition, charges of breach of trust, unauthorized banking and delay in bankruptcy were raised.
The district court of Oldenburg still has to decide on the opening of the main proceedings.
More charges could follow.

Elsflether Werft AG was the main contractor for the refurbishment of the "Gorch Fock".
She had to file for bankruptcy in February 2019.
The two board members had invested millions of euros in side businesses.
The Lürssen shipyard in Bremen took over the completion of the sailing ship and returned it to the navy in autumn 2021.
The news portal “The Pioneer” had first reported on the charges.
