The French parliament today (Monday) passed a new law requiring a certificate of immunization in order to enter restaurants, malls, cafes, cinemas, museums and intercity trains.

Opposition parties have stated they will not run in the by-elections, and that thousands have been protesting in recent weeks.

The lower house of parliament in Paris passed the legislation by a majority of 215 supporters against 58 opponents and paved the way for the law to take effect across the country in the coming days.



So far the authorities in the country fully vaccinated have demanded to introduce a corona-negative corona test to get into public places.

According to data from the French Ministry of Health, 78 percent of France's population has been fully vaccinated against the corona virus.

France is in the midst of the country's fifth corona wave in the country and the coronavirus omicron strain has caused a dramatic increase in the rate of infection in the country. Last week, more than 300,000 infections were recorded per day, however, hospitalization data in the country's corona wards remained low compared to other waves.
