The President of the Parliament, Laura Borràs, has assured this Monday that she has already "corrected" the labor regime of the Chamber that allows certain Parliament officials to receive their salary in full without having to go to work, although these measures will not be retroactive . According to the newspaper

Ara

, the Parliament spends 1.7 million euros annually to pay the salaries of 21 officials covered by this regime, ranging from 4,000 euros per month for the lowest categories to more than 10,000 that two former general secretaries receive .

In statements to TV3, Borràs explained that "before signing the first list as president" she asked for information on salaries, and that she began to work "to correct" this situation.

However, as Borràs has said, the reforms promoted "cannot have a retroactive effect", so they will not affect the 21 officials now covered by this figure.

The President of the Parliament has recalled that this regime came into force in 2008, in a "different context" and "situation" and has indicated that "it is not easy" to address because it affects remuneration issues that require collective bargaining.

Borràs has also announced that he will promote a transparency portal of his own in the Catalan chamber and that the members of the body that guarantees the right to public information of the Parliament (OGDAIP), who have resigned, will be renewed.

The information published by the newspaper

Ara

reveals that there are civil servants from the Catalan chamber who earn between 56,000 and 140,000 euros a year without going to work, a figure that in some cases is higher than what the councilors of the Government receive and that is close to Salary of the President of the Generalitat.

In order to take advantage of this special regime, called “age leave”, Parliament officials had to be over 60 years old and have worked for more than 15 in the Catalan chamber, which gave them the right to receive practically the entire salary without having to work until retirement age.
