Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov discussed with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir Abdollahian the progress of negotiations on the nuclear agreement in Vienna between Iran and the Four Plus One Group.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement today, "The two ministers discussed, during a telephone conversation, the situation on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on the Iranian nuclear program in the context of the eighth round of negotiations that resumed in Vienna to restore the full implementation of the nuclear agreement in its formation approved by the UN Security Council."
The two ministers discussed a number of regional issues of common interest.
Earlier today, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh confirmed that a large part of the points of disagreement had been resolved during the eighth round of the Vienna negotiations, considering that resolving the still outstanding points requires a political decision by Washington.
