Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov mocked the existence of "18 American scenarios" prepared for Ukraine, considering that the US government agencies may organize a competition to develop scenarios in the event of an escalation of the situation in Ukraine.
Sputnik quoted Lavrov as saying, in response to the statements of US Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland, who claimed in an interview with the British Financial Times that her country had developed 18 different scenarios for action in the event of an escalation over Ukraine, “I can only assume that the United States as reported has 17 devices And perhaps these agencies have 17 scenarios, and with the addition of the US State Department, they become 18 scenarios, and they may have announced an internal competition for them to develop the scenarios.”
Lavrov pointed out that there is intense competition between the American institutions and a race over the issuance of these scenarios.
In turn, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that his country is studying several options to deal with the Ukrainian situation in case it worsens. There is no need to complicate it.”
