Health Minister Manne Lucha expects more corona deaths in nursing homes in the country.
As long as there was no general obligation to vaccinate, individual outbreaks could not be completely prevented, said the Green politician on Monday in a special session of the state parliament's social committee.
Despite the probably milder course of the omicron variant, there will also be further deaths.
Stuttgart – Lucha called for vaccination again in this context.
If caregivers and residents decided against vaccination, that would unfortunately be acceptable, said the minister.
There is no lack of supply.

The vaccination rate also depends on the internal dynamics in the facilities, said Lucha.
A few vaccine skeptics in a home could stir up staff and cast doubt on the vaccine.
A corona outbreak in a Rastatt nursing home recently killed 13 people.
According to the district office, none of them had a booster vaccination.
In Gaggenau, a resident had died from or in connection with the virus.
