When the public discourse again raises the unfounded allegations about the seemingly extreme conditions of the "air conditioner officers", I felt the need, for the first time since joining the IDF, to respond - on behalf of my subordinates, colleagues and family. Due to the right to early retirement available to permanent servants,

most of the allegations are directed to permanent personnel who support the combatant array. In the home front, a definition to which I have belonged since I began my permanent service more than two decades ago.

Well, I'm one of those people who's so easy to visit.

As a human resources officer, I am in charge of managing and caring for the manpower in the various units - today in the Southern Command, in my past in a regular division and also in a regular division.

I am proud to serve (and not work) in the Israel Defense Forces.

In the service, whether in attacking forward or in the rear, it is a matter of doing around the clock, 24/7, subject to endless commitment and responsibility.

It first met me as a brigade human resources officer in the Second Lebanon War, when I stayed 35 days in the north with a baby several months old waiting for me at home who had not seen my mother.

Or immediately afterwards as a human resources officer in the Kfir Brigade when I barely saw the house and children.

I met with the challenge again as a Division 98 human resources officer - this time with a three-month-old baby I met on weekends, when I spend the entire week in the division, serving jointly with the battalion commander and the brigade commander, giving them, along with my colleagues, the best human envelope - to Allow them to train, defend national security and prepare for war.

And speaking of a shell - the combat formation is the heart of the IDF's work. And we, the service providers, do our best so that that heart can beat.

My three adorable children have experienced an officer mum, a fact that means time with mum is always limited: mum probably won’t come to a parent-teacher meeting or a party in kindergarten. Still, they are proud because they understand the significance of the military service I perform - more often than much more senior citizens.

So true, I did not storm or crawl on thorns - but my friends and I were in service everywhere from north to south, which also included the company commander and the battalion commander, from the Lebanese outposts, through Judea and Samaria and all the way to the Gaza Strip.

The truth is important to say: over the years I have skipped between the area downstairs, even if in an air-conditioned office, have mercy on Letzlen, and equipped with a computer. But I would like to make it clear: even there, I did not sit and look for lucrative discounts and promotions, but dealt with providing the envelope for caring for the people, streamlining the response that those serving in the army receive and caring for the most important resource in the IDF - the people.

I stayed in the military out of a sense of infinite responsibility and great significance, and not for any other motive.

I am willing to pay the family and personal prices that the service demands of me, and yet I am also quite a bit disappointed when cynical voices are heard all around expressing criticism that lacks a factual basis.
