Within the activities of the Circassian Cultural Week, the Circassian Heritage Exhibition was opened today in Tishreen Hall in Aleppo, which is held in cooperation between the Directorate of Culture and the Circassian Charitable Society, with the participation of 12 exhibitors, and it will last for 3 days.
The exhibition includes types of handicrafts, wool, crochet, etamine, embroideries, woodwork, food, pastries and sweets that are famous for Circassian cuisine.
In a statement to SANA correspondent Benin, the assistant director of culture in Aleppo, Ahmed Mohsen, that the exhibition is being held to introduce the intangible heritage through its exhibits that reflect Circassian folklore, customs and traditions.
The exhibition's coordinator, Shukran Jokhai, explained that the exhibition is a product of courses carried out by the Circassian Women's Association in the field of handicrafts, kitchen, knitting, clothing for Circassian dress, and the recycling of some wooden pieces with the aim of introducing this heritage and passing it on to future generations.
The participant, Mirna Khalil, indicated that she had participated in hand-made exhibits, including painting on glass and recycling the consumable items at home, stressing the importance of the role of women in the exhibition, which contributes to enhancing their self-confidence.
Participant Rose Nabhan pointed out that her participation was through embroideries and crafts to introduce the community to Circassian heritage and folklore, and Fadia Badis indicated that her participation in manual wool works comes to confirm that Aleppo women are productive at work and at home.
The participant Ammar Mahairi confirmed that he participated in the exhibition to show the diversity and richness of the Syrian society in the products of heritage and folklore and the ability to contribute to supporting the national economy.
