Priests attacked in the vicarage - they wanted the carol singers' money

A pastor in Hagen was brutally attacked by several men in the vicarage on Sunday.

They were after the money from the Sternsinger campaign.

Hagen - "Where is the money from the children?" With this sentence, several men attacked the vicarage of the St. Bonifatius parish in Hagen on Sunday.

The robbers were probably after the income from the carol singers campaign of the church.

During their attack, they attacked the parish priest and tied him up.

According to the police, the priest concerned entered the rectory of the St. Bonifatius parish on Berliner Strasse in Hagen at around 6:40 p.m. on Sunday (January 16).

"At first he wondered why the light above the motion detector wasn't activated.

Then he heard noises from the direction of the basement exit," said a police spokesman on Monday.

When the pastor went through the patio door into the office wing of the rectory, he was suddenly attacked by strangers.

They put his cap over his face and pepper sprayed the priest.

They then wrestled him to the ground, tied him up with cable ties, and dragged him into the stairwell.

The pastor suspects that there are three perpetrators.

Apparently, they were after the income from the carol singers, because they asked: "Where is the money from the children?" But this money was stored elsewhere.

The perpetrators therefore took the municipal treasury and were able to escape.

The tied priest was then able to drag himself to a neighbor who freed him and alerted the police.

In the course of the investigation, the police also found out that the clergyman's private apartment had been completely ransacked.

We are urgently looking for witnesses who saw or noticed something suspicious near the vicarage between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Sunday.
