The Directorate of Agriculture in As-Suwayda has provided about 15,000 free seedlings to administrative units, the Directorate of Education and popular organizations to carry out afforestation campaigns, since the beginning of the current season.
The head of the Forestry Department in the Directorate of Agriculture, Engineer Anas Abu Fakher, said in a statement to SANA reporter today that the free-distributed planters are added to more than 6,500 plants that were sold of various forest types according to the prices approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, pointing to the availability of good quantities of seedlings for sale and distribution. In the coming days, in order to serve the agricultural operations, the expansion of green spaces, and the re-cultivation of what was cut off in the past period.
Engineer Abu Fakher pointed out that the directorate has planted about 9,000 seedlings as part of the afforestation plan for the current season in the locations of the Al-Assad Forest, the Rum Dam, Al-Qurayya and Barika, to continue planting in the coming period.
Last month, the Suwayda Agriculture Directorate began implementing a plan to produce 195,000 forest plants within the Al Ain and Namira nurseries, to sell and distribute them in the coming seasons.
