Late insight: Downing Street apologizes to Queen Elizabeth II for partying on the eve of the funeral of the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip.

Windsor – The pictures went to the heart.

While the monarch (95) was preparing in April 2021 to bury her decades-long companion and beloved husband Prince Philip (99, † 2021) and she had to do it all alone because of the current Covid 19 regulations in the United Kingdom, amused Downing Street staff joined at two parties.

An apology was now contritely granted.

"The Telegraph" had uncovered the parties where "excessive drinking" was reported.

Staff partied unabashedly on the eve of the Duke of Edinburgh's funeral at Windsor Castle.

In doing so, they studiously ignored their own guidelines for the Brits plagued by Corona.

The applicable security level provided for direct contact only within one's own household or direct team colleagues.

As if that weren't enough, the UK was in a period of national mourning, with flags flying at half-mast on almost every government building.

Mourners had been asked not to lay flowers at the gates of Windsor Castle and Buckingham Palace to prevent the spread.

Queen Elizabeth II: The palace does not comment on party or apology

In infinite sadness, Queen Elizabeth II had complied with the regulations.

She sat abandoned and alone in the pew of St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle as she gave her husband's last goodbye after 73 years of marriage.

Prince Charles (73), Prince William (39) and the rest of the royal family also adhered to the British government's requirements for distance and wearing masks.

Prince Harry (37), who had come to the funeral from California, had gone into isolation as required.

The Queen seemed fragile and small, who had to put Prince Philip to rest alone.

"It is deeply regrettable that this has come at a time of national mourning," a spokesman for Prime Minister Boris Johnson told British journalists during their regular morning briefing in mid-January next year.

Buckingham Palace has not commented on the parties or Downing Street's apology.
