On the night of the arrest, the detainee's attorney filed a petition in court, arguing that the suspect's medical condition apparently did not allow him to be handcuffed to bed.
The judge granted the petition, despite police opposition, and ruled that the detainee's restraint should be removed.
The suspect took advantage of the fact that he was not handcuffed and fled the medical center.
A police officer who was present near his room bounced off additional forces that are currently conducting searches inside and outside the building.
The district commander, Superintendent Avi Bitton, said that the circumstances of the incident should be "examined, in all its aspects."
