The condition of senior prosecutors for Mandelblit: deal with Netanyahu only in exchange for a public apology | Israel today

According to estimates, the ombudsman will not go into the deal unless he succeeds in enlisting the support of senior prosecutors, who demand that the opposition leader retract his attacks on the law enforcement system. The stigma as part of the deal being formed

Contacts for plea deal:

Opposition leader Benjamin Netanyahu has apparently given the green light to his lawyers to move forward in negotiations for the plea deal.

However, shortly thereafter the defense team was quick to clarify that they did not agree to accept the stigma as part of the same deal being formed.

Another condition of the State Attorney's Office that could jeopardize the deal is a demand by senior members of the State Attorney's Office that Netanyahu withdraw from his attacks and claims of political persecution.

Meanwhile, the ball went to the prosecution.

The counsel will have to formulate a decision as to whether he is going for a deal without consent on the defamation and leaves that to the court for decision.

Netanyahu's struggle is for the possibility of returning to the next election, leading the Likud and running for prime minister again.

The State Attorney's Office states that the agreement will be signed if Netanyahu agrees to accept the stigma as part of the deal.

Mandelblit recently said in closed-door talks that he does not intend to sign a deal without the support of senior prosecutors involved in the case.

If this is true, the senior officials will demand as part of the deal that Netanyahu withdraw from his attacks against the State Attorney's Office and his allegations of political persecution, and will also be asked to admit that they are clean-shaven.

Such a demand will probably not be accepted by Netanyahu and will make it even more difficult to sign.

Either way, the time to make the deal is extremely short as Mandelblit himself is set to leave his post at the end of the month.

In order to execute a transaction, as it may be, it is necessary to go over every detail and comma in lengthy negotiations between the defense team and the prosecution team.

Netanyahu's interests in reaching a deal are clear, but the prosecution's need to reach a deal is no less than that of the opposition leader.

First, the main prosecution witnesses in the cases, headed by Nir Hefetz, supported significant points in the lines of defense and the cases suffered a severe blow.

These beatings will sharpen as the trial continues and is expected to continue for years to come.

The prosecution has put all its love on these cases, all its prestige, and acquittal on key charges such as bribery will embarrass the prosecution, oblige it to do a home inspection and further increase the opinion it has captured in many publics that it is a personal, unspoken political persecution.

But it is not only the distress of the cases, but also the personal and sincere desire of the counselor to clear the table before he leaves.

Mandelblit also demonstrates a broad state approach aimed at ending an affair that severely undermines the trust of large sections of the public in the judiciary and the prosecution.
