Shiite insurgents in Yemen have admitted firing ballistic missiles and UAVs at Abu Dhabi airport and oil facilities

A spokesman for the Houthi organization in Yemen stated tonight (Monday) that the militia had attacked the airport and oil facility in Abu Dhabi, "in response to the escalation of aggression by the US, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates in Yemen".

According to the spokesman, the operation was carried out by five ballistic missiles and a large number of UAVs. The UAE is not a safe country as long as aggression in Yemen continues.

A knowledgeable source told Bloomberg News that the UAE will ask the United States to return the Houthi militia to the list of terrorist organizations.

The source also said that the United Arab Emirates will also try to exert pressure through the UN Security Council.

The attack in Abu Dhabi has drawn condemnation from a number of countries in the Arab world, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Egypt, Algeria and Jordan.

Jordanian King Abdullah spoke by telephone with the United Arab Emirates and condemned the attack in Abu Dhabi.

Foreign Minister Yair Lapid also condemned the attack, saying: "I strongly condemn the UAV attack today in Abu Dhabi and send my condolences to the families of those killed and best wishes for a speedy recovery to the wounded.

Israel stands by the United Arab Emirates.
