The business magazine "Forbes" has published the list of the richest YouTubers of 2021.
With around 300 million dollars, the top ten in the ranking earned more than ever before and achieved an increase of 40 percent compared to 2020. According to "Forbes", this is mainly due to the high number of hits on their YouTube channels caused by the pandemic and the associated advertising revenue.
YouTubers make about half of their income from advertising.
But they also use other external sources.
Some YouTubers invest in startups or start their own business.
These are the richest YouTubers:
1st place: MrBeast (47 million euros)
MrBeast's real name is
Jimmy Donaldson
(23).
He draws attention to his channel with unusual videos: He donated large sums of money to Twitch streamers, watches paint dry, counted to 100,000 in 40 hours - and most recently recreated the Netflix series SquidGame.
Not only the videos bring him steady income, but also "MrBeast Burger", his own app, through which he markets fast food dishes to his approximately 90 million YouTube fans.
His videos have so far been viewed a total of around ten billion times.
Forbes estimates the resulting advertising revenue at the equivalent of around 47 million euros for the past year.
2nd place: Jake Paul (40 million euros)
The American YouTuber
Jake Joseph Paul
(25) is the second richest YouTuber in the world.
He mainly uploads vlogs and music videos to his channel.
However, he did not only gain fame through YouTube.
Paul was an actor in the Disney series Bizaardvark from 2015 to 2017, founded the Internet group Team 10, which consists of young influencers with the aim of becoming successful on YouTube.
In addition, Paul earns a lot of money through boxing matches.
3rd place: Markiplier (33 million euros)
Mark Edward Fischbach
(32) is an American YouTuber under the name Markiplier.
He is best known for his videos about indie and horror games. In addition to uploading videos to his YouTube channel, he is also a podcast host and co-founder of the clothing company Cloak.
4th place: Rhett and Link (26 million euros)
Rhett James McLaughlin
(44) and
Charles Lincoln
(45) - together Rhett and Link - run a total of four YouTube channels: "Rhett and Link" for music videos, skits and parodies, "Good Mythical Morning" for their daily morning talk show, " Good Mythical More" for further discussions, performances and interviews as well as a dedicated channel for behind-the-scenes and unedited videos.
The two also work as comedians, filmmakers and musicians.
The other ranks are followed by the newcomers "Unspeakable" (28.5 million euros), the just seven-year-old "Nastya" (28 million), the eight-year-old toy tester Ryan Kaji (27 million euros), the comedy quintet "Dude Perfect" ( 20 million euros), Jake Paul's older brother Logan Paul (18 million euros) and game streamer Preston Arsement (16 million euros).
