There were two registered protests in the city center on Monday evening, a vigil in front of the film museum and a demonstration march under the motto "Free vaccination decision Potsdam".

There were also three counter-rallies from the “Potsdam Shows Color” alliance and the left-wing “Solidarity Potsdam” initiative with several dozen participants.

A police spokesman said the gatherings were peaceful.

A “light walk” on the square in front of the Brandenburg Gate in Potsdam, which was announced on social media as in the previous weeks, was banned by the police.

The ban due to dangers to public safety was also enforced using a cavalry squadron.

In Cottbus, the police broke up a demonstration against the Corona measures with around 1,500 participants in the evening. No leader of the assembly was found on site for the unregistered assembly, said police spokeswoman Ines Filohn as justification. The meeting was then dissolved and the participants were asked to leave the square. According to Filohn, two participants were taken into custody. In one case, the police used tear gas because of resistance. The officials took personal details from numerous other participants.

In East Brandenburg, several thousand people took part in demonstrations against the Corona rules and compulsory vaccination.

A total of 32 meetings against the Corona rules were counted in the area of the East Police Department.

Of these, only 10 were properly registered, said police spokesman Roland Kamenz.

In the other cases, no leader of the assembly could be identified, reported Kamenz.

As a result, reports were made against unknown persons for violating the Assembly Act.

In numerous cases, the officials also took action against violations of the mask requirement.

In Schwedt (Uckermark), a meeting was broken up by the police after participants had detonated pyrotechnics several times, Kamenz reported.
