Two male and one female customs officers were killed on a shallow-water patrol boat during an anti-smuggling operation.
The families of the three people filed a lawsuit in the High Court yesterday (17th), claiming that the customs were negligent and filed a civil claim.
The plaintiffs are the estate administrators of customs officer Huang Zhuobang, acting senior customs officer Li Zhiheng and female senior customs officer Wu Yongmin, and the defendant is the customs office represented by the Department of Justice.
The complaint alleges that Huang Zhuobang, customs officers Lai Zhiheng and Wu Yongmin had an accident on the sea near Chek Lap Kok while they were working on January 21, 2020, and the three eventually died.
The complaint alleges that the defendant was negligent in the incident, or breached statutory and contractual obligations, and therefore filed a claim.
