Apart from the legal dispute about protected reefs in the Fehmarnbelt, the developer of the Baltic Sea tunnel between Fehmarn and Denmark has already created facts.
"The construction work on the reef areas started in October," said Schleswig-Holstein's Economics Minister Bernd Buchholz (FDP) on Tuesday.
"That's why the reefs in the area of the tunnel trench are almost completely gone due to dredging work."
Kiel/Leipzig – near the shore, the reefs have already been partially covered with sand.
The Federal Administrative Court had previously requested the state of Schleswig-Holstein to temporarily stop dredging work in the area of protected reefs following an application by the action alliance against a fixed link across the Fehmarnbelt.
"We requested this interim injunction to prevent the work on the reefs from creating a fait accompli before the court decides on the actual urgent application," said Hendrick Kerlen of the Action Alliance on Monday.
The alliance had already filed a lawsuit in 2021.
