The parliamentary manager of the CDU parliamentary group in Saxony-Anhalt, Markus Kurze, reclassified his controversial statements on the future of the ARD main program on Tuesday.
"I should have expressed myself better," he told the German Press Agency.
Kurz had previously told the "Mitteldeutsche Zeitung" that the CDU parliamentary group "wanted to abolish the station "Das Erste" as an independent channel in the long term".
Magdeburg - The word "abolish" is not correct, Kurz admitted.
"Conversion is correct," said the CDU politician.
According to his ideas, the first one should be developed more into a "showcase for the regions", in which productions of the individual broadcasters get more broadcasting time.
With this demand, Kurz took up a suggestion from Saxony-Anhalt's Minister of Culture, Rainer Robra, who had brought such a model into play years ago.
Robra was also a guest at the closed conference of the CDU parliamentary group on Monday, where the topic was discussed.
