Circular boulevard: traffic disrupted for four weeks around The Link construction site, in La Défense

As part of the preparatory work for the construction of the tallest office tower in France, traffic will be restricted on the

The Link, the future headquarters of Total in La Défense (Hauts-de-Seine), will not be delivered until 2025. But the work for the construction of the tallest and most expensive tower in France (1 billion euros), designed by the architect Philippe Chiambaretta, are progressing.

From this Wednesday and until February 18, the installation of a crane and the assembly of a logistics platform, overlooking the circular boulevard, for future supplies, require the closure of traffic between the crossroads des Valettes and the Orme footbridge, Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Slots during which three detour routes will be set up to reach Neuilly and Paris.

The first, with a loop at the level of the Puteaux-Villon car park, to reach the Neuilly bridge;

the second using the quays of Puteaux to reach Courbevoie;

the third, via the La Défense underground passages, from the Les 4-Temps shopping centre, to reach the Neuilly bridge directly.

Enough to change the habits of motorists, even if the niches chosen are not those where the traffic is the densest on the circular boulevard.

Initially, these operations were to be carried out at night.

The foundations must be completed at the end of January

The site, led by Adim Paris Île-de-France, a subsidiary of Vinci Construction on behalf of Groupama (owner of the site), started in March 2020, with the deconstruction of the three Gan buildings located on the right-of-way. The foundations, with the installation of piles - called barrettes - at a depth of 60 meters, must be completed at the end of January.

At the same time, the earthworks phase has been launched and will continue until spring.

Before the step of laying the raft, namely the concrete slab which will serve as the base of the building, scheduled before the summer.

This is when The Link will begin to take shape, with the structural work and the construction of the floors until the summer of 2024. "At the same time, there will be the installation of the facades from the lowest levels and architectural and technical interventions,” says Guillaume Le Réveille, project director for Vinci Construction France.

The Link tower project is located to the left of the Grande Arche.

Located in the Michelet district, The Link comprises two towers, connected over 30 levels by vegetated walkways.

The Arche wing will rise 228 meters above the forecourt, with 50 floors, and the Seine wing, 165 meters with 35 floors.

The whole will rest on a common base of three levels, between the urban boulevard and the forecourt.

Walkways will make it possible to create floors of 3,000 m2 and, in duplex, 6,000 m2, all floors being connected two by two by large open staircases that are easy to access.

Employees will benefit from 130,000 m2 of office, catering and coworking space.

Like the 220-metre-high Hekla tower designed by Jean Nouvel, located in the Rose district of Cherbourg, and which will be delivered this year, The Link tower aims to rebalance the skyline of the business district.

These two towers located on the Puteaux side will create a new visual balance around the Grande Arche with those already built on the Courbevoie side, such as the First tower (231 meters).
