A process to expand a small commercial area in Traubing has been stalled for years.

Reason: flood problems.

In the community there is criticism of the water management office.

The authority signals readiness for a solution.

The black ditch at high tide is quite impressive.

Traubing

– It was 2014: Back then, a development plan was already being finalized that was intended to enable the expansion of a small commercial area in Traubing on Brombergweg. But despite being ready for planning, it could not come into force because the Weilheim Water Management Office saw clear problems - in contrast to all other authorities.

At the most recent meeting of the building and local planning committee, the Tutzing municipal councilors seemed to be unable to believe what they were hearing eight years later. Because there is still no decision. According to the Tutzinger building authority, the water management office sees unsolved problems due to flooding at the Schwarzen Graben and because of slope water - but the community considers the flooding problem to be "hardly existent anymore", as the head of the building authority Christian Wolfert said. It became clear several times in the committee that the municipality missed advice from the water management office on this matter.

When asked by Starnberger Merkur, Korbinian Zanker, head of the Weilheim Water Management Office, confirmed that his authority believes that the flood problem is still unresolved. At the same time, however, he announced that the water management office would look for a solution together with the municipality (see box).

The worries go back a long way. During a flood in 1990, the black ditch ran over the bank and into the built-up area, Wolfert recalled. In addition, there is slope water, and although the Bromberggraben often does not carry water, it does so more when it is flooded. However, the municipality sees improvements due to the widening of the stream, the slope water is also not considered to be problematic, and the Black Graben has not overflowed since 1990. However, all discussions with the water management office would not have brought any result.

The municipality is now taking a different approach: it has commissioned the Tutzinger engineering office Osterrieder, Sobotta, Schmidbauer (OSS) with a “rough concept”.

They will be forwarded to the water management office and urge them to give an answer.

If not, there is nothing left but to adapt the development plan to the public display.

In this process, the water management office will have to give an answer.

That was "the sharper sword," commented Dr.

Joachim Weber-Guskar (FDP).

The authority will find it difficult to reject a qualified concept," said Stefan Feldhütter (free voters).

Thomas Parstorfer (CSU), who lives in Traubing, said full of incomprehension: "So much planning has already been made in the direction of flood protection - at some point it's good."

That says the water industry

The development plan for Brombergweg in Traubing has been occupying the Weilheim Water Management Office since 2012, explains the head of the authority, Korbinian Zanker, when asked by our newspaper. In a first statement to the municipality of Tutzing, the water management office pointed out the flooding problem in addition to the development. Because flooding in this area during heavy rainfall or major flood events are known from the past. This flood problem had already been documented in a “Trauming flood protection concept” from the Tutzing municipality in October 2010. “In this first statement from 2012 we could have agreed to the entire designation of the commercialas long as the Traubing flood protection concept had been implemented together with adequate flood protection for the Bromberggraben," says Zanker.

The water management office was able to approve the development of part 1 of the development plan in 2014 because it is not directly endangered by flooding, Zanker continues. However, the flood problem could not be solved in the years that followed. A last joint meeting between the water management office and the municipality in 2019 had not yet brought the final breakthrough for the further development plan on Brombergweg. The municipality then continued planning the construction area and wanted to coordinate the results with the water management office again. Other meetings have so far failed due to Corona.

However, Zanker announced to the Starnberger Merkur that the water management office would certainly find a solution together with the community.

“We will reach out to the community accordingly,” he promised.
