Installation of 260 solar lighting devices in several streets in Damascus


Damascus, SANA- The Damascus Governorate has implemented the installation of 260 solar-powered lighting devices in a number of the city’s streets within a line


Damascus Governorate implemented the installation of 260 solar-powered lighting devices in a number of the city's streets as part of its plan to rely on alternative energy for street lighting.

The installation works of lighting devices with their columns were distributed to 50 devices in the main bridge area, 50 devices from the Mazzeh Jabal roundabout towards the Language Institute and Mazzeh Road 86, and 25 devices in Sheikh Saad near the French School “Charles de Gaulle” towards the entrance to Mazze 86, according to the director of lighting in the governorate, Engineer Ziad Saada.

Saada said in a statement to SANA that 135 devices were installed in the Al-Qadam area towards the Al-Midan gate, “The Gate Roundabout” towards Al-Ashmar Roundabout and from there to the camp roundabout towards the Al-Tadamon entrance, explaining that the 260 devices that were installed are the first batch received by the Damascus Governorate from the Ministry of Local Administration and Environment Out of the 850 devices designated for it, the remaining devices will be delivered later to follow up on the installation work.

Saada pointed out that the second batch of devices will be installed in the areas of Abbasid garages, Nahr Aisha, Jisr Al-Thawra and places where people are crowded, pointing out that the devices have a high level of 185 watts of lighting and a 300 watt solar collector, with a battery capacity of 50 amps.

As part of its plan for this year, according to Saada, the governorate will work to equip 5 citizen service centers with solar energy, in addition to garden wells and a number of traffic lights at 22 traffic intersections, through tenders that will be issued soon.

Saada stressed the importance of moving towards alternative energies, the most prominent of which is solar energy, to provide clean and supportive energy for government electricity networks.
