Investigators assume suicide after fire at truck stop

After the fatal incident at a motorway service station in Hesse, investigators assume that a driver committed suicide, in which an uninvolved truck driver also died.
The driver is likely to be a 61-year-old from the Offenbach district, the police and the Hanau public prosecutor announced on Tuesday.
Hammersbach – Investigations at his home address had shown that the man apparently wanted to take his own life.
An expert was commissioned to reconstruct the exact course of events.
The second fatality is said to be a 47-year-old truck driver from Kyrgyzstan who was apparently killed by debris.
The man was found dead next to another partially burned car.
Autopsies should be carried out on both bodies on Tuesday morning, which should provide further information about the circumstances of death.
Those investigations were still ongoing as of Tuesday afternoon.
