Human rights activist and niece of Iran's supreme leader Ali Khamenei was arrested last week after praising the last Shah's wife, Farah Diba.
The Human Rights Activist News Agency (HRANA), a media outlet operating in the United States and covering what is happening in Iran, reported that Iranian intelligence ministry agents arrested Frida Radhani last Thursday, and some of her personal belongings were confiscated in a raid on her home. She was reportedly transferred to the infamous Evin Prison in Tehran.
"We are very worried, we did not know what was going on, and now we know she is in Evin prison and under the control of the Ministry of Intelligence," her brother Mahmoud Mordechani, who lives in France, told the Persian-language Iranian satellite channel Iran International.
Murdahani, Khamenei's sister, is known in Iran for her activities against the death penalty and for civil rights in the country.
She was arrested after a video posted on social media showed her praising Farah Diba, the widow of the last Shah, during an online event marking the former queen's 83rd birthday.
Shah Muhammad Reza Pahlavi ruled Iran until the Islamic Revolution in 1979.
Para currently lives in France.
Maradhani's father is Sheikh Ali Tehrani, who opposes a prominent regime that has served about ten years in prison in Iran.
