In Italy, the number of corona infections is rising sharply again due to the omicron variant.

Therefore, the government has tightened its measures - also for vaccinated people.

The 7-day incidence in Italy is currently 2,047.4 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants (as of January 18).

As a result, the government has gradually tightened its corona measures - now also with regard to vaccination certificates.

Anyone who has been vaccinated twice will only keep their status

for six instead of nine months from February 1st

, as reported by the industry

portal FVW

.

Corona vaccination status in Italy is only valid for six months

Italy recently adopted the

2G rule

for restaurants, bars and cafés . This means that only those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered have access. In addition, the

FFP2 mask requirement

was introduced in public transport and in leisure facilities. At the same time, the government announced in December the

reduced validity of vaccination certificates

, which will come into effect from February 1. Anyone who wants to continue to be considered "vaccinated" after the six months have expired must then be able to show a booster. The new regulation will probably also apply to entry. So if you are planning a stay in Italy in the near future, you should check your vaccination card beforehand. Proof of vaccination can be provided via the EU Covid certificate.

EU countries are adjusting the validity of the corona vaccination certificates

Italy is not the first country to shorten the validity of the vaccination certificate.

In

France

, since January 15, all people aged 18 and over must be able to show a booster no later than seven months after the basic immunization in order to continue to be allowed to keep the status "vaccinated".

On the other hand, if you want to enter Austria

as a vaccinated person without quarantine

, you need a booster vaccination or an additional negative PCR test.

For

travelers without a booster vaccination or a negative test result

, the quarantine and reporting obligation via electronic registration applies.

Also in

Greece

All people over the age of 60 must get their booster no later than seven months after the last vaccination.

From February 1st, this rule applies to all adults.

In

Germany

, on the other hand, the convalescent status has now been shortened: instead of six months, it is only valid for three months.
