The prosecution decided today (Tuesday) to close the case against the well-known writer and playwright, 94, who is suspected of murdering his wife about a year ago.
After examining all the evidence in the case, it was decided to close it on the grounds of lack of sufficient evidence.
The investigation began after the suspect announced the death of his 87-year-old wife, when he said she fell and drowned in the bathtub.
However, findings revealed to police in the apartment and on the body of the deceased, including signs of sabotage and strangulation, aroused the suspicion - and the body was taken to an autopsy that raised suspicion of the offense.
Yarkon police began collecting evidence and findings to investigate the woman's death and as the investigation progressed, her husband was arrested and brought to the police station for questioning.
After the end of the investigation, it was decided with the consent of the police to release him under house arrest for a month on bail from family members.
In the meantime, the case was transferred to the State Attorney's Office, where it was decided, as stated, to close the case due to lack of evidence.
