The landlady of the Jachenauer Schützenhaus stops after two years.

Everyone involved hopes that a new tenant will soon be found.

Jachenau – After two years, Martina Riesch has not extended the contract as landlady of the Jachenauer Schützenhaus with the four sponsoring clubs.

A heavy blow for the owners, all locals and also for the numerous holidaymakers.

The reason for the 36-year-old's decision was not a quarrel or disagreements with the landlords.

Riesch explains the occasion with a letter on the front door of the traditional inn.

In it, the young woman from Jachenau emphasizes that in 2019 she was aware that she was embarking on an "adventure" and that the beginning would certainly not be easy: "But what happened next was unimaginable for all of us at the time."

“The financial reserves are almost exhausted”

The lease agreement was signed just a few days before Corona was suddenly on everyone's lips.

Lease commencement date: March 1, 2020. Scheduled opening shortly thereafter on Friday, April 3.

But everything turned out very differently.

“Now, two years later, we were again faced with a difficult decision.

Extend lease or give up our dream?”

Martina Riesch says: “Ultimately, the entrepreneurial risk is too high for us.

The last two years have shown us that, unfortunately, economical operation is not possible in the current situation.

The financial reserves are almost exhausted and there is no end in sight to the pandemic.

Further lockdowns cannot be ruled out.”

“We are absolutely grateful for the good time”

That's why it was over at the end of last year. "With a heavy heart. We are absolutely grateful for the good time, we don't regret trying. But you also have to know when to pull the emergency brake. Even if the head knows that it's the right decision - the heart still cries," says the outgoing landlady, describing her feelings. At the same time, together with her chef Fabian Liebe, she thanks all guests and employees.

Josef Orterer, head of the rifle club of the SG Cosiness Jachenau and previous spokesman for the four sponsoring clubs, which include the rifle club, the traditional costume and tourism club and the SSC Jachenau, regrets the development: "We were really happy to have found a local operator.

Martina and her team managed the Schützenhaus very well right from the start.” Now, of course, everyone involved hopes that a new tenant will soon be found.

Certainly not an easy task, especially since Josef Orterer also gave up his position as spokesman for the sponsoring associations at the end of the year after more than 22 years.

There is still no successor for him.
