Al-Hasakah-SANA
The Health Directorate in Al-Hasakah Governorate, in cooperation with the World Health Organization, sent mobile teams to treat leishmaniasis patients in the western countryside of the governorate.
The Director of Health, Dr. Issa Khalaf, indicated in a statement to SANA reporter that the directorate identified a number of villages in the western countryside that are included in the leishmaniasis treatment campaign, which are (Umm Hujaira, Rafef, Tawq Al-Salah, Tal Majdal, Qabr Al-Hajji, Tal Sakhr, Tal Hormuz, Tal Rumman, Majluga, Al-Kharata, Qabr Shamiya and Al-Nashwa Al-Gharbia, in addition to the center Tal Tamr town) at a rate of four days out of every week for two months.
Khalaf called on the people to cooperate with the mobile teams and review them to receive treatment directly, pointing out that these teams specialize in the treatment of leishmaniasis, which has recently spread widely in the villages located on the bed of the Khabur River, which has turned into swamps, which formed an incubating environment suitable for the spread of sand flies.
Khalaf explained that the Health Directorate is also continuing the campaign to treat leishmaniasis in the southern countryside for a period of three months, in cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross, where mobile teams have treated 1,400 casualties so far.
