Former President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev described the recent events in his country as "shocking", pointing out that the gangs' attack on it aimed to destroy its unity and the foundations of the state.
In today's speech to the Kazakh people, Nazarbayev denied "there is a conflict or clash" between the leadership in Kazakhstan, describing the news regarding this as "absolutely baseless rumors", stressing that the current president of the country, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, has full authority.
Regarding the reports that claimed that he had left the country, Nazarbayev said: "I am a retired man and I am in the capital of Kazakhstan and I have not left anywhere."
On the fifth of this month, Tokayev declared a state of emergency after the outbreak of violence and riots that claimed the lives of dozens of civilians and the Kazakh security forces, in which criminals and murderers participated, and it was later lifted from many areas after security and stability returned to them.
