What began with a traffic stop ended in a turbulent chase.
During the arrest in Nuremberg, the police made a surprising discovery.
Nuremberg – It was like something out of an action movie.
On Monday night (January 17), the noise of rotors and a police helicopter flying around startled residents in the south of Nuremberg* in the middle of the night.
Around 3 a.m., the police in the Langwasser district arrested a speeder who had previously engaged in a more than 150-kilometer chase across Franconia with the police.
Chase on several highways - police catch speeders in Nuremberg
When a police patrol at around 0.30 a.m. on the A7 near Hammelburg in the Bad Kissingen district wanted to subject a black Mercedes to a traffic check, according to a press release from the police headquarters *, the driver fled.
He drove, sometimes at excessive speed, via the A3, the A9 and the A6 into the city of Nuremberg.
In the south of Nuremberg, the man crossed a large number of intersections at red lights.
Almost two and a half hours after the original traffic check, the driver parked in Langwasser at around 2:50 a.m. and was arrested there without resistance, the police report.
Forces from the police headquarters in Lower Franconia and Middle Franconia and a police helicopter were used in the chase.

A pre-trial arrest warrant had already been issued against a 34-year-old speeder
When officials checked the identity of the 34-year-old driver, they found that the man had a pre-trial arrest warrant.
In addition, he did not have the required driver's license and was apparently driving the vehicle under the influence of intoxicants.
The suspect now has to answer, among other things, on suspicion of driving without a license and a large number of violations of the road traffic regulations.
Due to the existing arrest warrant, he was taken to a correctional facility.
The Nuremberg traffic police are asking all road users who may have gotten into a dangerous situation in connection with a black Mercedes in the early morning hours of Monday (January 17) to call (0911) 65 83 15 30.
