The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) has shortened the recovered status of people who were infected with the corona virus.
This could also have consequences for travelers returning.
Previously, people who tested positive for the corona virus were considered “recovered” for 180 days.
This status is important, for example, as part of the 2G rule, as it allows more freedom for those who have been vaccinated* and those who have recovered.
When traveling, those who have recovered usually have to reckon with fewer restrictions than those who have not been vaccinated.
But that is now changing within Germany: The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) has adjusted its requirements for a recovered status.
RKI: Recovered status is now only valid for 90 days
Since the weekend, the RKI has recommended that a person should
only be considered “recovered” for 90 days
.
From a "technical point of view" a "proof of recovery within the meaning of the COVID-19 protective measures exemption regulation and the coronavirus entry regulation" must comply with the following points:
The positive test must have been carried out by a PCR or PoC-PCR test or another method of nucleic acid amplification technology.
The date of taking the positive test must be at least 28 days in the past.
The date of taking the positive test must not be older than 90 days.

The RKI only considers a person to be “recovered” if all three requirements are met.
According to Focus.de
, the new deadlines must be
adjusted in the regulations of the federal states.
A transitional period may be expected so that those who have recovered, whose positive test was more than 90 days ago, still have the opportunity to be vaccinated in good time.
This could be the case, especially for
those who have recovered and were not vaccinated before the infection
.
The RKI recommends a booster vaccination at the earliest three months after a positive corona test.

What does the recommendation mean for returnees?
It is to be expected that the new recommendation of the RKI will soon be adopted by the Federal Foreign Office.
At present,
travelers returning from a trip generally have to present 3G proof when entering Germany
.
So if you want to enter the country with a proof of recovery in the near future, you should check whether this is sufficient according to the current requirements.
Otherwise, a negative corona test is required - when returning from a high-risk area, there is also a risk of quarantine.
When traveling abroad, those affected must observe the rules of the relevant travel country.
In most EU countries, a recovered status is valid for between three and six months.
