A mini-series called "Moon Night" that is expected to appear on the Disney Plus streaming platform arouses great excitement among comic book lovers, partly because for the first time it includes an official character of a superhero Jew.
The official trailer for the series released yesterday (Monday) aroused quite a bit of interest among fans.
Admittedly, this is not the first Jewish superhero, as there are many claims that Superman and Spider-Man are Jews, and of course we should not forget Magneto, the enemy of X-Men, who is portrayed in the first film as a child in a Nazi concentration camp. Significant in the Marvel film and television world.
Moon Knight (Knight of the Moon) is the alter ego of Mark Spector, the son of a Jewish-American rabbi from Chicago who became a boxer, enlisted in the Marines and eventually became a mercenary.
After being nearly killed he was given a second chance from an Egyptian moon and became a superhero.
Moon Night's character first appeared in the August 1975 issue of Werewolf by Night # 32.
The new series, which is part of the fourth phase of Marvel's cinematic universe, is expected to air in March 2022 and will include only six episodes.
Moon Knight will be played by actor Oscar Isaac, who by the way is not a Jew at all, but the son of a mother from Guatemala and a father from Cuba.
