Today (18th) at 2:42 pm, a fire broke out in a unit on the 40th floor of Hengcui Building, and a large amount of smoke was emitted. After someone found it, they called the police for help.

The fire department rushed to the report and dispatched a team of smoke caps and a hose to rescue. Initially, a woman was apparently dead at the scene, and a man in a coma was found. He was sent to Tin Shui Wai Hospital for emergency treatment, but was confirmed to be dead.

It is understood that a family of three lived in the fire unit, and the two victims were elderly couples. The police are trying to contact their sons to understand the situation.


The fire was put out at 3:29 p.m., and about 125 people in the incident evacuated to a safe location on their own.

Building residents were allowed to return to their residences one after another at 5 p.m.

Firefighters are investigating the cause of the fire.

Ms. Ho, a resident living on the 20th floor, said that she thought it was raining at first, but she heard the fire alarm twice and smelled smoke. She knew there was a fire and ran away immediately.

The female resident Dai Dai, who lives on the 30th floor, was so frightened when she walked out of the fire, she had to sit down and rest.
