In the United States, of the hundred largest listed companies, only ten are headed by a woman, either as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) or as chairwoman of the board of directors.
By way of comparison, nearly 12% of the 120 largest French companies are in this case.
However, American companies have promoted women to the highest positions for longer than French companies, even if their proportion is still modest and is slowly increasing.
