Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said tonight (Tuesday) at a press conference with Serbian President that President Yitzhak Herzog may visit Turkey soon.
Erdogan said this a few hours after he once again expressed a desire to improve relations with Israel and even suggested transferring Israeli gas to Europe through Turkish territory.
The president's house declined to comment on Erdogan's remarks.
However, a senior Israeli official stressed that Erdogan told Herzog in the latest phone call between them that he would be happy if he visited Turkey.
According to the senior official, no date has yet been set for such a visit.
In any case, the senior official clarified, there will be no harm to Israel's strategic relations with Greece and Cyprus.
