2022-01-19T07:00:51.521Z

In 2021, the police arrested 275 Arab suspects and 96 Jewish suspects • In Judea and Samaria, only one indictment was filed for every 20 cases • The police: "We will increase our forces"

The data on agricultural crime in 2021 are a reflection of the growing crime in the Arab sector: three times more Arab thieves than Jews, and in casualties, the complete opposite.

Agricultural crime refers to crimes against farmers, including theft of crops and agricultural produce, theft of agricultural vehicles, theft of livestock, theft of agricultural equipment, damage to crops and agricultural lands, destruction of equipment and more.

Police data show that while the number of Jewish suspects was only 96, the number of non-Jewish suspects in agricultural crime cases in 2021 was 275. Also, during 2021 the police investigated 55 suspects resident of the Palestinian Authority.

Of the 756 farmers affected in 2021 by agricultural crime offenses, 622 farmers are Jews and only 134 are Arab farmers.

In the Northern District, the ratio between the number of cases and the number of indictments filed in 2021 was one indictment for about three cases, and in the Judea and Samaria District, one indictment was filed for every 20 cases opened in 2021.

Police claim that in the last decade there has been a 50% decrease in crime, a 50% increase in the number of indictments filed against agricultural crime perpetrators and a 62% increase in the number of arrests.

Advocate Avichai Boaron, chairman of the Lavi organization, says that "the data prove the depth of the state's bankruptcy in maintaining the personal security of its citizens in general, and of its farmers in particular."

Adv. Avichai Boaron,

The police said in response: "The Border Police has confidence in the agricultural areas, which constitute about 85% of the State of Israel, with 350 fighters and officers, and about 8,000 volunteers. In 2021, there was a 19% decrease in agricultural crime compared to 2020, and an increase of 62 "% In arrests in relation to 2020. The Border Police is currently working to increase the forces operating in the field."
