The branch of the General Company for Roads and Bridges in Homs has contracted with several parties from the public sector to implement several projects within the framework of completing its plan for the current year and securing work fronts for the coming years, at a value of about 11 billion pounds.
Eng. Shahid Hallas, director of the company’s branch, said in a statement to SANA Economic Bulletin that the contracted projects include the implementation of 3 labor towers in the Al-Wafa suburb of Hama governorate for the benefit of the Public Corporation for Housing, at a value of 7.5 billion pounds, over a period of time estimated at three years, in addition to the maintenance of main road axes in contracts with the Public Corporation for Road Transport At a value of 2.5 billion pounds.
Hallas said that the future plan includes carrying out the works of the Al-Mouh Bridge on the Orontes River in the Qusair countryside, southwest of Homs, after it was sabotaged at a cost of about 400 million pounds, and implementing the Al-Zohouriya School in Deir Baalba neighborhood for the benefit of the Technical Services Directorate, at a cost of 350 million pounds.
Hallas pointed out that the company is working on developing and activating work in the production centers belonging to the company branch, including concrete and asphalt shingles, and the manufacture of cement pipes and crushers to cover the needs of the branch and self-reliance and reduce production costs. Linear meters of concrete pipes according to the needs of the projects.
The company implemented projects during the past year with a value of 4.5 billion pounds, with an implementation rate of 110 percent, which included an asphalting project, paving roads, implementing infrastructure works in the Al-Wafa suburb of Hama governorate, and implementing public facilities - squares - sidewalks - roads in the youth housing area in Homs.
