Tonight (Tuesday-Wednesday), the police assisted the Jerusalem Municipality in completing the implementation of an eviction order for land in the Derech HaZeitim street in 2017. This is land expropriated by the local authority for the purpose of establishing a special education school for the benefit of Sheikh Jarrah and East Jerusalem residents.
It will be recalled that yesterday part of the land was evacuated, and the activity continued tonight, when people who had fortified themselves and stayed in it illegally were evacuated from the building.
Some were also arrested for questioning on suspicion of violating a court order, violent fortification and disturbing public order.
After the people were removed from the place, the procedure of evacuating the building and the land was completed by the municipal officials.

The police emphasized that in contrast to false posts on social media in Arabic - during the activity and so far no unusual events have been recorded.
The activity was carried out with the aim of implementing the court order issued by the court, through the Israel Police, representatives of the Jerusalem Municipality and in cooperation with the welfare authorities, at the end of the preparation and approval of plans by the Jerusalem District Commander.
It should be noted again that about a year ago, the Jerusalem District Court ordered the family to vacate the land designated for public needs, in favor of establishing a special education school with 18 classrooms and 6 kindergartens, which are supposed to serve the residents of the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood and their children.

Since the ruling, the family has been given countless opportunities to hand over the land by consent, but they have refused to do so, even after repeated extensions, meetings and attempts at dialogue by the Jerusalem municipality.
Therefore, the Jerusalem Municipality acted as ordered by the court and implemented the orders issued by the court.
