Rafael Nadal without shining, against the German Yannick Hanfmann (126th, from qualifying), scored 6-2, 6-3, 6-4 (on his 5th match point) his ticket for the 3rd round of the Open from Australia.
The Spaniard has sometimes lacked length, rhythm and power, but as he likes to recall, he is in the recovery phase after a foot operation which cut short his 2021 season. In the 3rd round, Rafael Nadal will play against the Russian Karen Khachanov or the Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi.
