Two children (11) were hit by a car in an accident on Monday evening in Olching and were seriously injured.
The driver of the car suffered a shock.
Now the politicians are reacting.
Two children were hit by a car and seriously injured in an accident on Monday evening in Olching.
According to the police, the eleven-year-olds got out of a bus at 5:40 p.m. at the corner of Feursstrasse and Ferdinandstrasse.
The bus continued towards the town center.
Several vehicles passed the bus stop, police said.
Then the children ran across the road without paying attention to the traffic.
They overlooked the car of a 46-year-old woman from Gröbenzell who was heading towards Graßlfing.
The car caught the two children and threw them into the adjacent green area.
Is there a need traffic light?
The eleven-year-olds suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver was in shock.
The Feursstraße was closed for a long time to prepare an accident analysis report.
The city has already responded to the accident. Measures are now to be examined for the position as to how crossing the Feursstrasse can be made safer. Because the stop is being used by more and more passengers, including children and older people from a nearby facility. "The situation would certainly be significantly improved with a needs traffic light, which could also be set up as a test and at short notice," says Mayor Andreas Magg.
The free voters in the Olchinger city council now want to become active.
They request that the arrangement and construction of a zebra crossing or other measure, such as an on-demand traffic light, be examined.
Older people have repeatedly complained about the unsafe situation at the scene of the accident.
After getting off the bus, they have to cross the busy Feursstraße in order to get to the nearby residential area or to go shopping.
