It disinfects and gives you fresh breath: The "Covidgum" developed by Prof. Dr.

Pfab was developed to help in the fight against Corona.

Regensburg – He sticks, is tough and should now also help against Corona *: A chewing gum called “Covidgum” wants to take the last breath away from the corona virus.

It was developed by sports medicine specialist Prof. Dr.

Florian Pfab, who believes that oral hygiene has so far been neglected to protect against Corona.

This is reported by the

Mittelbayerische Zeitung

Regensburg professor develops “corona chewing gum”: The idea came to him during quarantine

The brilliant idea came to the physician when he himself was infected with Corona: "Although I thought I behaved in an exemplary manner and observed all hygiene regulations, I still got infected," Pfab reports to the newspaper. He now teaches acupuncture at the University of Regensburg* and runs a practice in Munich.

In the quarantine it became clear to him: “Mouth disinfection is an essential factor in fighting the virus.

It's still underestimated at the moment." He didn't find the mouthwash that the Robert Koch Institute * recommended at the beginning of the pandemic practical enough: "I was looking for something that could be used for longer, was more natural and more practical." He himself was addicted after chewing gum, he tells the

Mittelbayerische.

That's where he came up with the idea: a chewing gum that contains essential oils and extracts that have a naturally antiviral effect, such as ginger, ginseng, cinnamon or peppermint oil.

Chewing gum with a unique selling proposition

According to Pfab, it's the only chewing gum that contains essential oils.

These must be distributed in the oral cavity.

Then it almost feels like an inhalation that tastes like cinnamon and mint.

The first studies by the Institute for Clinical Research Pneumology in Frankfurt, with nine test subjects, give hope: The chewing gum is said to have reduced up to 90 percent of the viral load of corona infected people and is said to be effective for two hours.

The chewing gum also disinfects the mouths of people who have not become infected.

This increases their self-protection.

According to the Mittelbayerische

, Pfab will soon be launching

a lozenge - for people who don't like chewing gum.
