Geretsried – In a survey, the youth council received numerous suggestions for modernizing playgrounds.
Together with the city council, measures and the installation of three covered picnic benches are now to be carried out.
"We wish for more themed and adventure playgrounds," demanded youth councilor Sabrina Lorenz (CSU) in the city council.
She referred to the results of a parent survey conducted in summer 2021.
Accordingly, the majority of the participants surveyed missed playground equipment that is also attractive for young teenagers.
According to the youth councilor at Johannisplatz, only small children have had fun so far.
Therefore, a tree playground is to be built there, which will also appeal to older children.
In addition, the city council unanimously approved upgrading the playground on Schlierseeweg in the Stein district.
For the necessary measures, 150,000 euros are to be allocated to the city budget over the next two years.
contact point and meeting point
In a further application, the youth council pushed through the installation of covered benches.
"The seating should serve as a contact point and meeting point for young Geretsrieders," explained youth councilor Isabella Schrills.
She was aware that the benches could possibly be daubed or sprayed.
Nevertheless, young people should be given a certain amount of creative freedom.
The first of a total of three youth benches is to be set up this spring on the exercise course in the city forest.
According to youth council spokesman Eric Buchalik, Böhmwiese and Isardamm are other possible locations.
Youth Advisor Felix Leipold (Free Voters) believes that the youth benches will be well received and not destroyed.
"You have to make it clear to young people that there's nothing new if it's broken," he explained.
The city council unanimously approves the installation of three covered picnic benches with wooden tables.
The costs of 7,500 euros will be included in the 2022 budget.
The youth council, which has an annual budget of 5,000 euros at its disposal, pays 4,000 euros of this.
Economics officer Volker Reeh (Geretsrieder Liste) promised to help with the search for sponsors.
