The General Federation of Peasants works to assist farmers in marketing their agricultural production at reasonable prices to ensure that they are not exposed to losses and protect them from the monopoly of traders and brokers, especially for the citrus and apple crop, under difficult external and internal marketing conditions.

Khattar Imad, head of the marketing office in the union, indicated in a statement to SANA Economic Bulletin that the strategy of the union’s work in the field of marketing includes supporting its marketing associations and activating their work on the ground by marketing the products of the governorates producing and consuming through them away from the profit mentality and through increasing coordination and cooperation with the institution Syrian Trade and based on its great potential, pointing to the need to financially support marketing associations through soft loans to ensure that they perform their role to the fullest.

Emad pointed out that there are difficulties in marketing farmers' crops, represented in the high costs of transportation and agricultural production requirements, in addition to the instability of prices, the decline in people's purchasing power, and the high costs of the process of storing crops, pointing out that the step of interfering in the marketing of the crop by Syrian Trade has met with great satisfaction among farmers despite its delay. The marketed quantities amounted to about 8000 tons since the start of the operation, including 7000 tons from Lattakia Governorate and about 1000 tons from Tartous, while large quantities were marketed by farmers in local markets directly and through traders and intermediaries.

For his part, the director of the Syrian Trading Corporation branch in Sweida, Rabie Ghanem, indicated the continuation of the process of marketing citrus from Tartous and Lattakia governorates, and selling them through halls and mobile cars at discounted prices from the market, as the marketed quantities have so far reached about 90 tons.

And the director of the Syrian branch of trade in Homs, Muhammad Omran, indicated in a similar statement that the process of acquiring citruses continues with all kinds and is marketed through the halls spread in the cities and countryside of the governorate at reduced prices, noting that the marketed quantities have reached 85 tons since the start of the process of acquiring.

For his part, the branch of the Syrian Trade Corporation in Hama rented about 65 tons of citrus fruits in the governorates of Lattakia and Tartous, and the process is continuing. From the material to be sold at the wholesale price, referring to the running of roving cars in the neighborhoods of the cities of Hama and Salamiyah to sell citrus to citizens directly.
