All for one: the veterans of the elite unit enlisted the help of 82-year-old Ludmila Moskelenko • "She was really excited

A few weeks ago, Yaara Mandelblatt, a social worker at Maccabi Health Services, called Idan Avraham, a member of the Sheldag commando unit and a volunteer in the alumni association of the glorious unit.

Yaara told Idan about Ludmila Mosklenko, an 82-year-old childless Holocaust survivor, whom she accompanies as part of the "In Good Hands" program of the Authority for the Rights of Holocaust Survivors in the Ministry of Social Equality in cooperation with Maccabi, which provides medical and social solutions to Holocaust survivors.

The call from the forest made Idan very happy.

"For the past two years I have been a volunteer with the Sheldag Unit, and one of our projects is for the renovation of homes for the elderly and Holocaust survivors. Yaara told me that there is a survivor who needs urgent renovation. "Needs renovation. I saw it, and I realized that quite a few working hands are needed to carry out a serious renovation and make the house a pleasant and fun place to be."

Idan harnessed six other volunteers from the association, all graduates of the Sheldag unit.

"What's nice is that because we did not speak the same language, there were not many words in the encounter, but there was a lot of emotion. .

"Ludmila constantly cared for us, asked us to eat and drink. It's amazing to see how good this project is for people's hearts. I'm sure because it's more comfortable for her now at home, it improves her mood. "Leaving her house at the end of the day and knowing we did something significant - there is no price."

Yaara Mandelblatt, the social worker of the program in the Sharon district, says that at the end of the day, Ludmila called her excited and full of gratitude.

"When we talked she shared with me that after the disasters she went through in her life, she had already lost faith in people, and I was so excited to hear her say we regained her trust in the kindness of people."
