Forest kindergarten Mürnsee: Complicated search for a new location

The forest kindergarten in Mürnsee has to move because of the construction of the new fire station.

– It has long been clear that the Heilbrunn forest kindergarten will have to make way for the new fire station. Finding an alternative location is difficult. Heiner Koch, Managing Director of the Albert Schweitzer Family Works, assumes that the move will not take place "before April". There had already been a meeting in which forest owners, hunters and municipal council members from all factions took part, Mayor Thomas Gründl reported at the most recent municipal council meeting: “These were good discussions. We agreed across party lines that the forest kindergarten is a good institution.” At the same time, however, the worries, fears and needs of the farmers had to be taken into account. "The location is definitely not ideal due to the vehicles coming and going."
Complicated search for new location
As a layperson, you imagine a forest kindergarten like this, says Koch: “You put a yurt somewhere and that’s it. In fact, however, there are many aspects to consider. So you have to agree with the landowner and the building authority. It should be clarified what the outside area of the community looks like with electricity and water. There are many nature conservation issues to be resolved. In addition, the possible danger of storm and fire must be kept in mind. There has to be a parking lot, and at the same time the area shouldn't be too busy. The initially envisaged location near the fire station has now been ruled out, because from there you would have to walk a long way to the forest. "And that's not so easy with small children," says Koch. The nearby creek is also not entirely unproblematic.One part is in an FFH area, and children could fall into it. Koch: "It's not that easy to find a suitable place. A lot has to fit together.”
Many aspects to consider for an ideal location
The mayors Gründl and Anton Ortlieb as well as the municipal administrations of Heilbrunn and Benediktbeuern are very committed to this issue, but no preliminary decision has been made yet.
"There are a few places on the shortlist." At the moment, 22 children are being cared for in the Heilbrunn forest kindergarten.
According to Koch, the advantages compared to a "normal" kindergarten are obvious: "In a forest kindergarten, things are very calm and relaxed.
It's closer to nature - a balance to the technological world we live in." Before the forest kindergarten can start in the new location, many authorities would have to be involved, says Koch: "We don't want to offend anyone." How great the time pressure is also depends to a large extent on when construction of the fire station begins.
