A cheap annual ticket for local public transport in the greater Nuremberg area is probably off the table.
The city is exploring other options.
Nuremberg – The 365-euro ticket for the entire area of the transport association Greater Nuremberg * (VGN) is not available for the time being.
Under the given framework conditions, the introduction could not be realized by the planned start date of January 1, 2023, according to a statement on Tuesday.
It would also not find the necessary approval from all network partners.

No 365 euro ticket for Nuremberg?
Not all options off the table yet
Before any introduction, both an overall concept, including the expansion of local public transport services, and sufficient financing are required, it said.
After all, with the introduction of the inexpensive annual pass, cities and districts would face considerable additional costs.
Nevertheless, Nuremberg is checking whether such a ticket can only be issued for the city area.
A limitation to the respective price level A is not off the table yet.
Because the majority of bus and train users in Nuremberg are commuters, the city wanted to extend the ticket decided by the city council beyond the city limits.
