As expected, the tombstone did not include anything about the circumstances that led to his suicide, but what provoked the anger was the amount of praise written about Velder.

"A noble man has charitable qualities and is liked by all who see him," the tombstone reads.

"A writer and thinker, with a sensitive, intelligent and wise heart who reached out to near and far. His books and writings have influenced entire generations."

"Worked hard for the welfare of the children and brought sons closer to fathers," it added.

"He guided many in the education profession and placed the children of Israel on a good path out of great sensitivity and caring. He cherished wise students and supported Torah with all his might.

The surfers who were exposed to the tombstone photo reacted angrily to what was written in it.

In a tweet from the editor of the Aktualik website, Menachem Koldetzky, a wide-ranging discussion arose regarding the degree of legitimacy of things.

"Ugh," wrote one of the surfers, and another replied, "What the hell, for them he remains a father forever."

Another surfer wondered if it was acceptable to write so much text, and a third noted that "they seem to have forgotten something."

One of the surfers claimed that "the more written about the tombstone, the more the person sinned."
