Italy's Supreme Court has upheld the sentence of Robinho, a former AC Milan and Brazil national team striker, to nine years in prison for his role in the 2013 gang rape of an Albanian woman, his court said on Wednesday. attorney.
The sentence is unappealable and final.
In 2017, a Milan court found Robinho and five other Brazilians guilty of assaulting the woman after giving her alcohol at a nightclub.
The conviction was upheld by an appeals court in 2020.
Robinho, whose full name is Robson de Souza, lives in Brazil.
His lawyer in Italy, Franco Moretti, confirmed Wednesday's verdict, telling Reuters it was "deeply unfair."
Robinho, 37, has played for several of Europe's top football clubs, Real Madrid, Manchester City and AC Milan, and signed a contract in 2020 to return to his first club in Brazil, Santos.

Italy could start extradition proceedings now that Robinho has received a final verdict.
However, Brazil has a long tradition of not extraditing its own citizens.
