An unregistered protest march by demonstrators against the state corona measures also passed the home of the non-party mayor of Gera, Julian Vonarb, on Tuesday evening.

A city spokeswoman confirmed this on Wednesday.

According to the police, around 1,200 people marched through almost the entire city center.

Slogans were chanted and displeasure was loudly expressed.

Thuringia's Prime Minister Bodo Ramelow (left) condemned the action.

Visiting political leaders at home and marking their homes and privacy is nothing but intimidation, he wrote on Twitter.

»No one can talk their way out of it and claim that they were just 'lost'«.

Similar to Ramelow, Environment Minister Anja Siegesmund (Greens) made a statement.

It was "absolutely unacceptable to package criticism of Corona measures with attempts to intimidate the mayor of Gera," she wrote on Twitter.

Anyone who crosses borders with rights must also take responsibility.

Police secure the mayor's home

Because there were more and more participants in the course of the demonstration, traffic in Gera was massively affected in places, according to the police.

When the demonstrators headed for the mayor's residence, the police secured the building, MDR reports.

The police are meanwhile dealing with a video shared on social networks that is said to have been created in Gera on Monday.

It shows how several police officers fix a man on the ground.

After a few minutes, the man lies motionless on the ground.

According to the police, around 3,500 opponents of the corona measures passed through Gera on Monday.

The video shows the use of direct force against the man, said a police spokesman.

The man had previously physically attacked police officers.

He is now being investigated.

The spokesman did not say whether the man lost consciousness during the police operation.

If it turns out that the actions of the officials were excessive, appropriate measures would be taken.
