Laptops and learning robots

With the wooden robot "Cubetto" and the associated programming interface, the first basics of robotics are learned in the children's area Neufinsing - Sankt Georg.

The children's area Neufinsing - Sankt Georg recently received further grants as a language day-care center.

Among other things, a learning robot was bought for the children.

– Das Kinderland Neufinsing – Sankt Georg is a participant in the “Language day care centers: because language is the key to the world” program run by the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth. This program promotes language education that is integrated into everyday life as an integral part of child day care - an important step towards more equal opportunities. In line with the current situation, there was recently another 900 euros to further support the media education work, and 3400 euros to make up for learning materials.

"Thanks to the subsidy, we were able to afford more laptops, so that we can use the laptop to create various materials for everyday group use with the children," reports Jennifer Bayer-Maier, who runs the Sankt Georg children's area.

The catch-up bonus was used for books from the field of diversity, for Montessori material and learning material from the MINT area (mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, technology).

"A small wooden robot called 'Cubetto' was purchased specifically for the IT department," reports Bayer-Maier.

"Cubetto" is equipped with a small manual in which he introduces himself and his tasks as a robot.

"By solving the tasks, children learn the basics of algorithms, debugging, iteration and waiting loops," explains the director.

"Cubetto" gives them the opportunity to promote their own experiences, games and fun as well as the cooperation of the children with each other.

Attempts are being made to better prepare the children for the "digital change" and the new skills requirements of the future.

In addition, the pedagogical team receives support from an additional specialist from the language day-care center, who brings the following topics into focus in everyday pedagogical work: everyday language training, including pedagogy, and cooperation with families.

This specialist language day-care center is in turn supported by a specialist language day-care center, which is located directly in the children's area.

The provider, Kinderland PLUS gGmbH based in Poing, now has eight language day-care centers in its portfolio.

A year ago it was only five.

In the district of Erding, in addition to the Kinderland Neufinsing - St. Georg, the Kinderhaus Isen is also a language day-care center.

And in the district of Ebersberg there are the Poinger facilities Kinderland Seewinkel and "Little Feet - big steps", the Kinderland Markt Schwaben and the Kinderland Heribert-Schmid-Weg, also in Markt Schwaben, both new since September 2021, as well as the Kinderland Gluckstraße in Vaterstetten and "Little Learners - big explorers", the latter is also new since September 2021.
